My work is based on the concept of Obstacle. Each plane and volume traces a struggle between different textures and materials, trying to overcome this hindrance. On occasion it is calm, other times it is chaotic. The juxtaposition of elements works as inputs and outputs of that struggle. I work with sand, cardboard, fabrics, wood, wires, acrylics, inks, watercolors, dry pigments and canvas. The cardboard builds volumes and intercepts them. I use canvas that join itself or I break them until disappearing them, rummaging the beginning of the obstacle and at the same time its resistance. The wires reinforce the friction or provide a counterpoint for these tensions. The obstacle appears somewhere in between what is formal and what is symbolic, explosion and absence, measure and expectation, underlying and raw. In order to navigate through it, I use volumes, textures, layers and lines. In this visual convergence I have developed my work’s identity.
